GETTING YOUR TT OR ROAD BIKE READY FOR THE TRIATHLON
August 2026
What travel does to your bike
Every year, thousands of triathletes descend on Noosa for one of Australia's most iconic events. Most have spent months training. Many have spent considerably less time thinking about their bike.
Flying or driving with a bike introduces stresses most riders don't account for. Checked bike bags — even well-packed ones — get thrown, stacked and pressure-changed in transit. By the time your bike arrives in Noosa, it's common to find:
- —Derailleur hanger bent or knocked out of alignment — often subtle enough to miss on a test spin, critical enough to cause a dropped chain mid-race
- —Tyre pressure significantly lower than when you packed it — tubeless setups can also lose sealant in transit
- —Brake pads shifted or rubbing after the wheels were reinserted
- —Cockpit components (bars, stem, aerobars) slightly rotated from handling
- —Di2 or AXS battery partially discharged
None of these are catastrophic on their own. Together, they mean the bike you race on is not the bike you trained on.
What a pre-race service covers
Our Race Prep service is built for exactly this scenario. After assembling your bike from the travel bag, we work through:
- —Full hanger alignment check and correction
- —Gear indexing and limit screw verification
- —Brake caliper alignment and rotor truing
- —Tyre pressure set and tubeless sealant check
- —Aerobar, saddle and cockpit torque verification
- —Di2 / AXS battery charge and connection check
- —Pre-race test ride and final wipe-down
The bike goes back to you race-ready — not just assembled.
When to book
Race week in Noosa fills fast. We recommend booking as soon as your travel is confirmed — ideally arriving Thursday for a Friday service, giving you Saturday for a shake-down ride on the course before Sunday.
Capacity during race week is limited. If you're travelling from interstate or overseas, email us before you leave.
