Best Coffee Stops for Cyclists — Noosa and Sunshine Coast Cafes

There's an unwritten rule in cycling: every good ride ends with coffee. On the Sunshine Coast, that's less of a hardship than it sounds.

Here are the stops we ride to, ride past and occasionally use as the primary reason for the ride itself.

Where TuneUp Cycles lives. Affinity is more than a coffee shop — it's a hub for coffee drinkers, home baristas and anyone serious about their espresso. Sven and his team offer great coffee, a welcoming space and as has a large following of regular customers. Drop your bike off for a service, order a long black and stay as long as you like. We recommend it highly.

Run by Bruno and his friendly team, this espresso bar in Noosa Heads has a loyal local following. Their house blend uses Colombian and Papua New Guinean beans — low acidity, high sweetness, works equally well black or with milk. A solid stop before or after a coastal loop.

Little Cove roasts their own beans and runs two cafes — Noosaville on Weyba Road and Peregian Beach on Kingfisher Drive — both open from early, which is cyclist hours. The muffin of the day has a reputation that precedes it. Open seven days at both locations, with the Noosaville cafe opening at 5:30am — earlier than almost anywhere else in the area. The Peregian stop sits perfectly on the coastal loop.

Also know as Le Petit Soiree, the detour is worth planning. Envie is a proper French bakery doing croissants, pastries and cakes the way they're supposed to be done — baked in house daily, with a range that changes. A great place to refuel for the ride home.

The destination stop for the Bli Bli loop. Criminal Coffee Company roasts their own beans out of Maroochydore. Their Game Changer blend is the one to order, and their range of delicious toasties are highly recommended. If you're riding the 100km loop south, this is the halfway reward — you can order ahead via their website to beat the queue. Australia's first zero waste coffee company, if that matters to you. It should.

Compound sits at Coolum Beach and is the natural turnaround point on the coastal spin — roughly 27km out from Noosaville. It's a surf-culture cafe with good coffee, an outdoor vibe and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes you stay longer than planned. Their Dawn Patrol espresso blend does what the name suggests. Open early seven days — timed perfectly for the ride out and back before work.
